Are you trying to lose weight? Adding foods that burn fat to your diet may make your task a little easier.Food That Burn Fat
Grapefruit
One of the foods that can help you burn fat is the ever-favorite grapefruit. Grapefruit is not only a great source of vitamin C, one grapefruit can carry a hefty 15 grams of pectin. Pectin is thought to help lower your levels of cholesterol. At about 74 calories, grapefruit is both fat and salt free.
Hot Chili Peppers
Hot chili peppers can add spice to your life. Peppers are loaded with vitamins A and C. Peppers are also packed with fiber, calcium and phosphorus. In addition, chili peppers contain capsaicin, the ingredient in chili peppers that cause the heat and is also thought to give your metabolism a kick.
Broccoli
You either love broccoli or hate it. If you fall in the group that loves broccoli, you enjoy a food that is low calorie, has no fat and contains tons of fiber, in addition to vitamin C and calcium.
Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a longtime breakfast favorite. Oatmeal is full of soluble fiber that might help you reduce cholesterol in your bloodstream. However, be careful. If you load your oatmeal up with sugar and butter, the additions may outweigh any benefits that the oatmeal offers you.
Turkey
It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving in order for you to enjoy turkey. Turkey can be both low in fat and in calories. Just keep a few things in mind when buying turkey. First, if you are buying ground turkey, go for the leanest possible. If you are eating “regular” turkey, don’t eat the skin, which contains a lot of fat. Finally, when buying whole birds, run from the ones that are basted or injected with flavorings.
Salmon
Salmon is another winner. Not only is salmon high in protein, it also has omega-3 fatty acids. Our bodies can’t manufacture this acid, which is important to our health.
Dairy
Dairy products used to be on the diet bad list. However, the calcium in dairy products not only helps fight osteoporosis, this calcium can also help break down fat. However, go for the low or non-fat types of cottage cheese, milk or yogurt or cut your “full strength” proportions way down.
Beans
Beans are an excellent source of vegetable protein. In fact, beans have the best protein-to-fat ratio of any type of food that you can find.
Greens
Try romaine, bibb, dandelion greens and watercress in addition to iceberg lettuce to add variety to your salads. While lettuce does have some nutritional value, including vitamins A and K, potassium, iron and calcium, other types of greens contain more.
Tomatoes
Add some raw tomatoes to your salad. Tomatoes contain vitamins A, B 6, C and K, as well as dietary fiber at a low calorie and fat cost.
